Over 10,000 Visitors!
Uploaded February
2006
This month brought the 10,000th visitor to our
website since August 2004. This clearly demonstrates the usefulness
of the internet in bringing together breeders from all over the
country - and indeed the world. As many regulars to the site will
know, we have contributions from as far away as New Zealand and have
had many enquiries from across Europe.
Information at your Fingertips
One of the greatest advantages of the internet is the quantity of
information available at the click of a mouse. The Berkshire Pig
Breeders Club has a wealth of advice and guidance on our own site,
but also an ever-expanding network of links to other internet pages
that will be of benefit to our members.

information section of our site.
A Real Community
Many people think of the internet as being something slightly unreal
or unconnected with everyday life. And with all the bad press, it
can often be perceived as a troublesome or threatening place. Of
course, for most of our members, the internet is becoming an
important place to share information, ask questions or trade
breeding stock, because Berkshire lovers are spread far and wide.
Our interactive noticeboard has been a huge success
and new messages appear almost daily. We've seen newcomers asking
for advice and being truly grateful for the guidance of more
experienced breeders, and it's proving itself to be a great place to
buy and sell pigs. As the website continues to grow, we fully expect
the sense of community to increase even further.

Photographs
One of the areas of our site that seems quite popular are the
photograph galleries. Sadly, they're not updated as often as we'd
like them to be, so if you have photos of your Berkshires, do please
send them to us
(jo@berkshirepigs.org.uk). And if you don't have any pictures,
please take some!

Room for Improvement?
The website has become far more popular than we first expected -
it's expanded significantly over the last eighteen months, but we're
keen to improve. We'd be very grateful for some feedback so if you
have a couple of minutes to spare, do please complete our survey
below. You don't need to supply your contact details if you'd like
to remain anonymous, but we'd like to be able to discuss ideas with
you if you make suggestions.
If you have material to send us, the best way is by
e-mail. We're happy to receive articles, notices and photographs, but
try to keep the file size down. If you don't have access to a scanner or
e-mail, you can send originals or printed matter and we will, of course,
return everything you send. Please contact either Jo Wykes-Sneyd (jo@berkshirepigs.org.uk,
01728 663664) or Richard Carter (webmaster@berkshirepigs.org.uk,
07816 313140).
