Still Time for the National Prime Stock Show

This is a reminder that the event will be held at Bingley Hall, Stafford County Showground on Saturday 18th November and Sunday 19th November. Entries close on 18th October and schedules are available from the BPA office or the secretary, Mrs K Tomlinson (Telephone 01283 820012).

There are live classes for pairs of Bacon, Cutter and Pork pigs in two sections – one for pigs sired by a Modern Breed boar and one for pigs sired by a Traditional Breed boar. Therefore the classes are open to crossbred pigs as well as pure bred.

The pigs can either be sold at auction on the Sunday or they can be taken home afterwards, making it possible to enter potential show pigs for next year. We also require a few pigs on loan for demonstration purposes only. There is also a carcase competition for pork pigs.

The BPA will have a stand at this show. This is the first time for some years that we have had live pig classes at this show and it is hoped to make a big impact and generate interest in pigs and pig meat. Please give this show some serious thought and try to enter pigs. You will be made most welcome. There will be a herdsmans supper on the evening of Saturday 18th November.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact John Herbert (Tel 01889 500269 ) or Christine Vaughan (Tel 01455 212655).
