Berkshires in Northern Ireland Dear Berkshire News, I am writing to you on behalf of my son William Moore-Bowman who would like to join the club. Can I take a few moments of your time to give an insight into our stock? William owns the only two Berkshires shown in Northern Ireland and has been very proud of their success. He owns an English bred boar Smallicombe Namatjira who has won some first and second prizes in last years shows, but his female Berkshire sow Edenboro Royal Sapphire bought from her breeder Mr Vaughan Byrne in 2002, made her first public appearance at 1 year old and won her 1st prize and Champion breed rosette at Cultra rare breed show and sale. Last year 2004 she went to Royal Ulster Show and was placed 2nd in the any other sow class and again at Ballymena show. She then went on to the any other sow class at Lurgan where she won 1st prize and went forward to the Championship to be placed second. In the final show of 2004 at Cultra both Berkshires took 1st prize in their classes but she went on to take Breed Champion Reserve interbreed and the pig derby champion 2004. She has started this year with a 2nd again at Ulster, we are very proud of their achievements especially with her being the only Berkshire that appears in the Northern shows, we feel she deserves a big pat on the back for doing the Berkshires proud with her shining example, gracefully achieving all of this and competing alongside so many other breeds in the classes. Enclosed photos so your readers can put a face to the name.
Many thanks. |
