NEW TRANSPORT RULES
DON'T FORGET New EU Transport Regulations come into force from January. All members who need to transport pigs should consider whether they need to register with DEFRA to be a licenced transporter of livestock on journeys up to 8 hours (Type 1). You can download the forms from the DEFRA website: http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/welfare/farmed/transport/eu-transportreg.htm

HISTORY OF THE BERKSHIRE

In the absence of a further piece from Vaughan this issue, the new Regional Focus has an international element to it looking at the Berkshire 'downunder'.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Its that time again when the AGM approaches. As our Chairman will be judging on the otherside of the world in February, the AGM will be held in March 2007. Hopefully that will mean the weather will be more accommodating than previously (when believe it or not we had snow) and the days will be drawing out so it should help the drive. Details are available here.

P G WODEHOUSE SOCIETY
Vicky has extended our grateful thanks to the P G Wodehouse Society for their continued sponsorship of the Berkshire Champion of Champions. The Annual Society Dinner took place at Gray's Inn London on 5r October 2006 and I am pleased to say that we were able to provide Berkshire pork for 135 guests.

Delighted members have now sampled the taste of real traditional meat and hopefully their pleasure will result in more good press for our produce.
